Gavin is a specialist in building and improving businesses. He has worked both as a consultant to a wide variety of Australian businesses, and as senior manager with hands-on responsibility for business development.
He developed his commercial analysis skills with a national business advisory and chartered accounting firm. He was an Associate Director, senior adviser and project manager with the firm’s Business Advisory Group. He gained extensive experience in business improvement projects for private, public and community enterprises.
He entered the commercial world, joining the executive team of an independent finance group that provided highly rated, asset backed commercial paper programs for lenders in Australia and New Zealand. Working with the board he began a new retail business and developed a range of efficient, productive services and systems.
Gavin began independent contracting and consulting in 2007, drawing on the significant experience and resources gained over two decades of business analysis, business development and business improvement.
Throughout his career, Gavin has been consistently recognised as a developer of solutions—a creative problem solver with a strong focus on achieving results.
Business performance analysis and improvement is all that Gavin does. This means that:
Business improvement is not a good fit with many accounting and professional firms. Yet it is often sound practice for clients to work with their accountants on business improvement projects. For this reason Gavin is happy to work with accountants, giving clients the best of both worlds.
Gavin does not delegate business analysis or project work to junior staff. It is not that kind of work. He is able to manage projects efficiently and cost-effectively by using dedicated software, and well-tested tools and procedures.
Gavin brings a wide range of technical expertise and business knowledge to each project that he undertakes. This generally means that he delivers better value - seeing more problems, possibilities and pathways than many other advisors.
In many cases Gavin can also deliver solutions, either undertaking the work or managing change on behalf of clients. This saves time and reduces the cost and risk of implementation.
